IF YOU ARE HAVING A PROBLEM

Take a look at the logs in C:\Program Files\CodeProject\AI\logs and see if there's anything in there that screams 'something broke'.
Check the FAQs in the CodeProject.AI Server documentation
Make sure you've tested the server using the Explorer (blue link, top middle of the dashboard) to ensure it's a server issue rather than something else such as Blue Iris or another app using CodeProject.AI server.
If there's no obvious answer, then copy and paste into a message the contents of the System Info tab, describe what you are doing, and what you see, and what you would expect.

Always include a copy and paste from the System Info tab of the dashboard. It gives us a ton of info on your setup. If an individual module is failing, click the 'Info' button to the right of the module's name in the status list and copy and paste that info too.

How to reinstall a module

Option 1. Go to the install modules tab on the dashboard and try re-installing the package. Make sure you have enough disk space and a reliable internet connection.

Option 2: (Option 1 with a vengeance): If that fails, head to the module's folder ([app root]\modules\module-id), open a terminal in admin mode, and run ..\..\setup. This will force a manual reinstall using the install script.

Docker: In Docker you will need to open a terminal into the docker container. You can do this using Docker Desktop, or Visual Studio Code with the Docker remote extension, or on the command using using docker attach. Then do a cd /app/modules/module-id where module-id is the id of the module you need to resinstall. Next, run sudo bash ../../setup.sh --verbosity info to force a manual reinstall of that module. (Set verbosity as quiet, info or loud to get less or more info)

A note on custom models and Blue Iris

If you are a Blue Iris user and you are using custom models, then you would notice that the option, in Blue Iris, to set the custom model location is greyed out. This is because Blue Iris does not currently make changes to CodeProject.AI Server's settings. It can be done by manually starting CodeProject.AI with command line parameters (not a great solution), or editing the module settings files (a little messy), or setting system-wide environment variables (way easier). For version 1.6 we added an API to allow any app to change our settings programmatically, and we take care of stopping/restarting things and persisting the changes.

So: Blue Iris doesn't currently change CodeProject.AI Server's settings, so it doesn't provide you a way to change the custom model folder location from within Blue Iris.

Blue Iris will still use the contents of this folder to determine the calls it makes. If you don't specify a model to use in the Custom Models textbox, then Blue Iris will use all models in the custom models folder that it knows about.

Here we've specified a specific model to use. The Blue Iris help file explains more about how this works, including inclusive and exclusive filters on the models it finds.

CodeProject.AI Server doesn't know about Blue Iris' folder, so it can't tell what models it may be expected to use, nor can it tell Blue Iris about what models CodeProject.AI server has available. Our API allows Blue Iris to get a list of the AI models installed with CodeProject.AI Server, and also to set the folder where these models reside. But Blue Iris doesn't, yet, use that API.

So we do a hack.

At install time we sniff the registry to find where Blue Iris thinks the custom models should be. We then make empty copies of the models that we have, and copy them into that folder. If the folder doesn't exist (eg you were using C:\Program Files\CodeProject\AI\AnalysisLayer\CustomObjectDetection\assets, which no longer exists) then we create that folder, and then copy over the empty files.

When Blue Iris looks in that folder to decide what custom calls it can make, it sees the models, notes their names, and uses those names in the calls. CodeProject.AI Server has those models, so when the calls come through we can process them.

Blue Iris doesn't use the models. It uses the list of model names.

If you have your own models in the Blue Iris folder

You will need to copy them to the CodeProject.AI server's custom model folder (by default this is C:\Program Files\CodeProject\AI\AnalysisLayer\ObjectDetectionYolo\custom-models)

If you've modified the registry and have your own custom models

If you were using a folder in C:\Program Files\CodeProject\AI\AnalysisLayer\CustomObjectDetection\ (which no longer existed after the upgrade, but was recreated by our hack) you'll need to re-copy your custom model into that folder.

The simplest solutions are:

Modify the registry (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Perspective Software\Blue Iris\Options\AI, key 'deepstack_custompath') so Blue Iris looks in C:\Program Files\CodeProject\AI\AnalysisLayer\ObjectDetectionYolo\custom-models for custom models, and copy your models into there.

or
Modify C:\Program Files\CodeProject\AI\AnalysisLayer\ObjectDetectionYolo\modulesettings.json file and set CUSTOM_MODELS_DIR to be whatever Blue Iris thinks the custom model folder is.

Unable to Download Codeproject.AI windows installer.

Hi there, I have tried two windows pcs and 1 Mac to download the windows installer. Each attempt gets to about 8MB to 15MB and then stops. CodeProject.AI-Server-win-x64-2.6.5.zip.download

Blue Iris Version: Release 5.9.3.4 x64 (6/18/2024)

Blue Iris is set to start Automically (Delayed Start)

Code Project is set to start Automatically.

I had an issue where we had a power outage for several hours several days ago.

My UPS ran out; prior to that, I had shut down all computers and network equipment.

When I started the Blue Iris / Code Project server, I noticed that Blue Iris started, but Code Project Service did not.

I manually started the Code Project Server service from the menu, and then restarted the Blue Iris service.
(I do this to allow Blue Iris to read the custom models)

I went on to other things, assuming that everything would work.

I found the next morning that the last confirmed motion was about 19 hours earlier.

Investigating, I saw that Code Project did not seem to be functioning.

I started the Code Project Server service again, and checked to make sure that Blue Iris was showing comfirmed images.

I then left it.

This morning, I tried rebooting the server. I started the CPAI service, and restarted the Blue Iris service.

Watching Blue Iris, I kept getting Nothing Found, and AI Canceled.

Investigating further, when opening the CPAI home screen, I saw that the server was running, but both modules were not running.

I then opened "C:\Program Files\CodeProject\AI\modules\ObjectDetectionYOLOv5Net\modulesettings.json"

I found that Launch Settings / Autostart was set to False. I changed it to True. Restarted the Code Project service, and then found that Blue Iris was functioning as expected.

1. I have seen a number of times that I need to manually start the CPAI service, and then go through the idiocy of restarting the Blue Iris server service to make Blue Iris to read the custom models list.
I really wish that Ken would not go through this clumsy process to keep us from using Deepstack. He could go back to just reading the contents of the custom-models folder, that would take away the dependency of having Code Project running and fully functional in order to work.

2. I would assume that when I set a module to start, it should set the autostart value in the modulesettings file to True, no? I would love to get away from editing files to get a program to work.

3. Should I create a batch file like:

Timeout: 60
SC Start CodeProject.AI.Server
Timeout: 60
SC Start BlueIris

To make sure Code Project starts before Blue Iris?

I read a number of threads about Blue Iris in different places, and I see users who state they are supporting ~10 Blue Iris installations.

I honestly do not know how one would use Blue Iris in a commercial setting.

BTW, Ubuntu with Frigate NVR, I pushed the power button on the machine to start it, and I didn't have to do anything else (execpt make sure all cameras were powered up)

With further investigation, I tried restarting the machine, and watched the processes as the machine started up.
Initially, CodeProject AI Server ran, along with the ObjectDetectionYOLOv5 module. This was apparent in the task manager of the machine. At one point, apparently about when the Blue Iris service started, I no longer saw the ObjectDetectionYOLOv5 module listed. The Code Project server service was still listed however.
I looked at the Code Project web page, the server was online, but the YOLOv5 module showed stopped.
Looking at the log file, I saw initially an entry of:
Fatal error. System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
Finally, the following:

I will try to uninstall and reinstall the module and see what happens. I also will try excluding the Code Project directory from anti virus real time.

From the ObjectDetectionYOLOv5 directory, I ran ..\..\setup.
The initial results look favorable.
After about 5 minutes, the ObjectDetectionYOLOv5Net module is still running, using the GPU, and returning results to Blue Iris.
I will try several several more reboots and see if the issue returns.

Still investigating.

For now, it seems I have to manually start the module when it stops.

Hi!!
I keep getting theese errors when i run Face Recognition
in codeproject.ai, i'm using it with Blue Iris.

I'm on a new and clean Windows 10 pro installation, i've tried to reinstall codeproject twice, uninstalled Face Processing module and reinstalled it, but the error is still there.

Hi.
I use docker version of codeproject.ai (2.6.5) with linux debian.

I installed module "Cartoonizer module" but when I want to start it - i get the following error:

Sounds like it didn't install properly. Please try uninstalling and reinstalling the module.

API discovery endpoint

I know you guys are busy getting 2.7 ready, but is there any way you could add to the todo list an /api discovery endpoint that returns all the enabled modules URL's at that point in time? Maybe with all parameters expected listed?

The API docs are mostly complete , but not.

eg:

Using the Llama chat module the api endpoint is /v1/text/chat...

I have not seen where /v1/LlamaChat/cancel_command?commandId=" & commandId is documented.

Took me a bit awhile back to figure it out. I read the scripts.

I can see where user created modules could benefit from API discovery...

Instead of switching models and restarting, I can play with two llm models switched with a checkbox in my client app.
A heavy system prompt stays loaded in each model and is much faster. It works perfectly.
I'm working on the test page in the explorer page now. The markdown script wont inject twice.
Each works seperatly if the other is disabled, but they won't play together. No big deal. I'll figure it out.

Training fo Yolo 5 6.2 not working Classes

Hi, when I try to run the training I can't download the Classes. The system remains stuck on Downloading.... on 2 different PC with Windows 10.
What could it depend on? Thank you.

Hello,

.Net 7 is now EOL. As far as I can tell CodeProject AI requires .Net 7 to run. Am I correct? If yes, are there plans to move to .Net 8, and if I am wrong, how do I get it working with .Net 7 uninstalled?

How do I change the autostart setting for YOLOv5.net to true? The CodeProject.AI service setting in Blue Iris is set to true. Tried stopping the Blue Iris service and restarting it.
