I think it's stored as part of the session. Mine regularly resets, particularly if I restart the browser or don't access the site for a while, and I don't have it set to clear cookies.

I uploaded an image named : sqlstone-2_001.png
It was too big so I delete it from the article.
I resized the image (GIMP), added a little red box (highlight area of screen) and saved it.
I then uploaded it to the article again with the same name.
I then clicked the "insert" button to insert it into the article again.
Now here's when it gets juicy.
The thumbnail on the right, has the red highlight box, but the image in the article does not.
I thought, ok, maybe I need to "flatten" the image.
I did so, uploaded again. Still red box only shown in thumbnail.
I thought, ok, maybe I need to remove the alpha channel in the image.
I did so, uploaded again. Still red box only shown in thumbnail.
At this point I'm going slightly insane.
I then think, hmmm...maybe I need to rename the image so I named it sqlstone-2_001A.png and uploaded it.
It worked. You can see (in the image I captured[^]) that the images on the right (thumbnails) show the red box but only one of the images on the left display the red box.
Crazy, ain't it ?!
I guess this is caching issue. But it drive a user crazy.
I'm not sure how it can even cache that image like that, because keep in mind the first re-sized image (which is displaying in the article without the red box) actually had the red box also.
Only the original (much larger image) didn't have the red box.
I hope you can track this one down, cuz it crazy.
UPDATE - ANOTHER CLUE
In the article I'm editing I right-clicked the image with no red box and chose "open in new browser window" and saw this: https://www.codeproject.com/KB/Articles/5384295/Working/sqlstone-2_001.png[^]
See the dimensions of that one? That's the original that has no red box.
I then right-clicked and displayed the one named sqlstone-2_001A.png and I saw this: https://www.codeproject.com/KB/Articles/5384295/Working/sqlstone-2_001A.png[^]
Summarized Issue
The issue is that every time I deleted and uploaded the new altered image, and then clicked "insert" to insert into the article I would see the original cached version of the image.

Are you publishing the article after uploading an different image of the filename, and if so, afterwards, are you viewing it in the same browser? What happens if you clear your browser image cache, or look at the published article in a different browser? Does the published article display the updated image?
Or are we strictly talking about the article editor only, never leaving it, and not publishing?
Thanks,

Well, since I needed the correct image in the article, I never tried publishing the article with the wrong image showing in the edit area.
However, I did do a preview and when I did the preview I still saw the incorrect image in the preview article.
Also, it's all the same browser. I was just trying to get the article written.
And, I definitely did not refresh the browser. I've lost articles doing that so I was too afraid to do that.
I treat the editor with gentle kindess so it does not eat my unpublished article (as it has done in the past).

Nooooo. I wouldn't refresh the browser either
What browser are you using?

From Hungary, codeproject.com can only be accessed via VPN and the modules cannot be downloaded either!

That sounds a little unlikely ... @nagy-vilmos have you had any problems connecting from Hungary?

I accessed CP over the last couple of weeks when I was in Hungary, so I don't think it is country specific.
I can check next week when I go back.

Please do a tracert to codeproject.com and email me (chris@codeproject.com) the results. We'll talk to our IT guys and get this sorted.

Great, and got it.
Could you please email me your IP address (if you're comfortable). Our IT team is saying that ISPs will often block tracerts so what you've provided is helpful but they couldn't get enough info.
cheers

I didn't realize this until just now. I assumed there was a forum dedicated to developing video games, but I've never looked for it. I would post to the "Graphics" forum, but video games are more than just graphics. What's the story on this?

Oddly, CodeProject works still fine on my oldest Firefox on this machine, i.e. version 44. But on later versions like e.g. 115, it fails.
No submenus popup when I hover over an item like "community".
The login button on the main page fails (um "button"... actually just a text linked to "javascript:;"), but at an other URL (pasted into the browser's address bar), I eventually found a working login.
And the css seems totally missing - even when I disable my proxy.pac script (and it is obviously not the cause because on this old machine, it works fine).
Now I am a little confused.

I run FireFox all the time and have no issues. What you're seeing sounds like it's rendering the mobile view. How wide is the browser window? Have you modified the useragent string? Are you running dev tools and have it set to mobile emulation?
cheers

I use Firefox, and I haven't seen any of the issues you describe in any version, including the latest.
Have you tried turning off "enhanced tracking protection" and/or any ad-blocker extensions?
You could also try running Firefox in safe mode[^] to rule out interference from an extension.

After explicitly white listing "codeproject.freetls.fastly.net", the site looks fairly normal now (but in contrast to last Friday, the authentication cookie and some cached files are present - won't clear them). Only the "upvote" / "downvote" buttons are still missing.
