Hello code project community! 👋

I'm excited to share a free open-source tool I've been working on called AD Sync Manager. If you manage Active Directory and Azure AD synchronization in your environment, this might be useful for you!

https://github.com/TheITApprentice/AD-Sync-Manager

AD Sync Manager is designed to help streamline and simplify the AD to Azure AD sync process. It provides an easy way to monitor sync status, get alerted on issues, and manage sync cycles.

With this tool, you can:

View the status of your AD Connect sync cycles

Get notified if delta or initial sync fails

Manually trigger full or delta syncs

Analyze sync errors to identify objects with issues

And more!

It's built with PowerShell so it should be easy to deploy in most AD/Azure environments. I'm actively developing it and welcome any feedback or suggestions.

If you struggle with keeping your on-prem and cloud directories in sync, give AD Sync Manager a try. Let me know if you have any questions - I'm happy to help!

Hopefully this tool saves you some time and headaches. Let me know what you think! 😊

Help! Microsoft is pushing Outlook as my new email handler

I am using an ancient machine running Win10 (too old for Win11). I have been using the Win10 Mail program to handle email. Microsoft is saying that I have to move to Outlook. Neither Mail or Outlook integrate will with LibreOffice - or even Microsoft Phone Link, for that matter.

I am looking for an email handler which integrate well with LibreOffice. I use LibreOffice for letters, invoices, estimates, projections and the like. My most desired features are the ability to pull contact information into Writer (for inside addresses) and Calc (for estimates, invoices, projections, et al.). Being able to send contact information from LibreOffice to the email handler would be a big plus.

Does anyone know of such an email handler - preferably freeware. Please DM me for commercial or shareware products.
@Richard-MacCutchan
I'll just tag you directly seeing as how you deleted my last post flagging it as spam

I don't understand why it was flagged? It's free, non-commercial and it's in the correct category. All I'm trying to get is feedback on my beta project. Is there a more appropriate thread for it? If yes, could you please point me in its direction?

Under the build folder you'll find the necessary files to open your raw C++ CMake project in visual studio. Very convenient for using its debugger for example.

Not exactly a free tool, but a feature that might be overlooked.
EDID DisplayID Writer

Here is a neat tool for writing to the monitor EEPROM. You don't need to be Administrator.

It comes with full source code:
EDID DisplayID Writer

Fun fact: The Windows operating system makes a copy/cache of your EDID in the registry when you first connect your monitor. You could store your favorite poetry in your monitor EEPROM and probably still have a functioning monitor. I wouldn't recommend doing that. Backup your EDID if you do.

Fun fact 2: Most monitors block writing at the hardware level. But some monitors fake the "write-only" in software and can be put into "service mode" to enable writing.

If you ever find yourself in a position where you wanted to block writing. You could build an HDMI firewall.

MaxiBug issue tracker

The conversion from a single-user issue-tracker to a multi-user version with a Postgres database is now completed.
I tested it on a Windows 10 machine with PostgreSQL 14 and an SSD. For a database with 4000 issues the first loading time will be about 1.5 seconds and subsequent application starts will be faster.
I also tried to make it even faster by using Parallel.Foreach() for filling the DataGridView, but this slowed down things instead.

It can be downloaded here: GitHub - RickZeeland/MaxiBug[^]
Note: Microsoft Edge users probably will have problems as Edge considers this to be a "virus", so using Chrome is recommended

A free REST API for your testing

I cam across this site while working on a recent QA, and it appears to be quite useful (to me at least).

Reqres - A hosted REST-API ready to respond to your AJAX requests[^]

I tried it using the Java HttpRequest method and it works well.

Is there a tool that injects javascript into the location bar of a web page?

A web browser. A location bar. Javascript can be manually typed into it and run from there on the web page which is showing.

Is there a tool that does that?

Example:
A web site might have offensive images that are included from a different site. The javascript could search the html for those images and change them to a blank space. Thus, the user of the web browser looking at that site would see it loading, but before those offensive images show up the html of that page is changed to not showing those images.

Does this exist? What is a link to it? Have you used it? Does it work?

I know that someone wrote one years ago in Visual Basic 6 that worked very well. I would like to have one that is current.

Thanks.
